What is a cooperative?Cooperative housing defines a form of home ownership. Each member (homeowner) purchases a share in the cooperative and participates equally with other members in electing a Board of Directors. Living in a cooperative reflects a new living style with more of a village flavor. There is a community spirit among independent adults who are active and able to live on their own and. also enjoy a larger secure setting. The member enjoys tax advantages, potential equity growth, use of common areas and maintenance-free living.

Why should I choose an Applewood Pointe New Brighton cooperative?Each of the 17 Applewood Pointe properties offer many quality features and have many similarities. Each however offers a distinctive location, culture and some unique features as noted on our individual websites. All offer carefree, one-level living that makes it easy to enjoy your senior years. Similar to a single-family home, you will have pride of ownership and build equity, while enjoying the savings that come with the economies of scale that is unique to cooperatives.

How much does it cost to purchase a home at Applewood Pointe of New Brighton?Pricing can differ depending on a variety of factors, including size of home, the share cost percentage selected by the original owner, appreciation since the building opened and home upgrade finishes. Feel free to give us a call, and we’d be happy to share more detailed pricing with you.

What’s included in my monthly payment?The one monthly payment includes your mortgage principal and interest, real estate taxes, liability insurance for common areas, fire insurance on the cooperative, lender-required reserves, legal, accounting and professional management. Fees vary by floor plan size and include sewer, water, gas, trash/recycling, Premium Direct TV, internet & landline telephone, appliance repair and replacement. Members pay for their own personal content insurance and electricity.

Where will my guests stay?Your guests can stay in your home or in a guest suite. Our cooperative has two guest suites which can be reserved and rented at a very reasonable rate (far below the cost of a hotel).

Where is the laundry located?Every home has its own in-home laundry room with full-size washer and dryer. Additional features may include cabinet storage and laundry tub. No more carrying baskets to the basement!

Is a storage room available?Every home in our co-op comes with a private storage room located on the same floor. A select few were able to be designed within the home.

Are meals provided?The Applewood Pointe Cooperatives do not offer daily meals. However, just like your own home, you can arrange for food to be delivered. If food service is of interest to you, we invite you be creative. We do often have special monthly meals and selected food trucks visit.

Can I bring a pet?Applewood Pointe communities are pet friendly. You may bring up to two pets (dogs or cats), each weighing 25 lbs. or less. Please contact us directly for more information.

How many Applewood Pointe cooperative are there?New Brighton is one of 17 Applewood Pointe communities located throughout the Twin Cities. All our sister cooperatives are listed on the Home page under Locations Collectively we are home to over 2,000 55+ and 62+ adults within our locations. All were developed by United Properties, one of the Pohlad companies who have developed more than 20 senior living communities in Minnesota, Colorado and Florida. Our New Brighton Cooperative is managed by Ebenezer.
